Hip-hop’s in a good place right now. This year we’ve had albums from Eminem, The Roots, B.o.B, Reflection Eternal, Nas & Damien Marley, Drake and Big Boi with releases from Kanye West, J. Cole, Jay Electronica and more to come. Then you’ve got artists like Chiddy Bang who are redefining what hip-hop is as they flirt with other genres and sounds.
Despite all this, sometimes I yearn for that rawness of days gone by. The rawness that rappers like Biggie and the Wu-tang Clan brought. Thankfully, some people still keep that era alive – “real hip-hop” to some people. This woman just gets it.
